BPM DJ show reviewed by MC Rebbe The Rapping Rabbi in The Technofile

In the UK, there’s no shortage of music industry trade shows, but until recently if you wanted to check out the latest DJing kit, you were faced with a choice between PLASA (the main focus of which is sound and lighting for concert tours and large installations, making it 95% irrelevant to the average DJ) and a handful of shows targeted at musicians and producers. Last weekend though, the landscape changed, as DJs took control at BPM, a brand new show organised by Marked Events. Continue reading »

Adobe Creative Suite 3 world exclusive preview by MC Rebbe The Rapping Rabbi

Those of you who read my blog will know that at the end of January, I spent half a day at an exclusive press event (and a further half day at a follow up event a couple of weeks ago). Since both events were under Non Disclosure Agreement, I was unable to say anything more until now…when I can exclusively reveal that they were previews of Adobe’s Creative Suite 3, which will be formerly announced today. Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium reviewed in The Technofile by MC Rebbe The Rapping RabbiOn 4th April 2005, at 12pm precisely, The Technofile delivered a world exclusive preview of Adobe’s Creative Suite 2, based upon very late official beta software. Since then the code’s gone gold master, the product’s shipped and the verdict’s in…and it’s a good one…in fact the best, because not only does CS2 deliver some excellent new functionality; thanks to Adobe’s vision of a ‘unified design environment’…which is not just a sound bite…but also a sound byte…CS2 offers far tighter integration of its constituent parts than ever before. MC Rebbe The Rapping Rabbi reviews Total Training's Digital VideoCollection Professional Plus Bundle in The Technofile Adobe make some great applications, but they’re not exactly the easiest to learn…especially for newcomers…so it’s lucky that help is at hand in the shape of Total Training’s ‘Digital Video Collection Professional Plus Bundle’. Designed to accompany Adobe Video Collection Professional 2.5, it contains a massive 30 DVDs, with an even more massive total running time of 102 hours….yes…102 hours…and having watched all 102 hours…during one lunchtime (I was hungry)…I think I can say with some authority, buy them! Whatever your level of experience, you’ll be glad you did! Continue reading »

Adobe Video Collection Professional 2.5 reviewed in The Technofile by MC Rebbe The Rapping Rabbi

Once upon a time, when it came to computer based video editing, there were two choices…Avid, which, at a cost of tens of thousands, was strictly high end… and Adobe Premiere, which, at a cost of hundreds, was still high end…but was the relatively affordable alternative. Then a bunch of young upstarts called Macromedia (yes, that Macromedia) developed a product that combined the video editing facilities of Premiere, with the comping abilities of Adobe’s other key video package, ‘After Effects’ and amidst rumours and speculation of a Premiere/After Effects killer, released it to critical acclaim…well not quite…actually, they sold it to Apple…who released it to critical acclaim, as ‘Final Cut Pro’….and subsequently Final Cut Express…closely followed by Avid Express DV and a bunch of other video editing apps. Teach Yourself Visually Flash MX 2004 reviewed by MC Rebbe The Rapping Rabbi in The Technofile“Are you a visual learner? Do you prefer instructions that show you how to do something and skip the long winded explanations? If so then this book is for you,” claim the publishers…and as it turns out, they are right…not that I have an objection to long winded explanations…after all…I am a rabbi…long winded explanations are part of my religion…though not a part of The Technofile…but if you like me are sick of having to read hundreds of pages of text every time you want to learn how to use a new application, then this book is definitely the answer.
