Native Instruments Absynth 3.0

Famed for its visual hallucinogenic effects, Absinthe was THE drink of 19th century artists. Famed for its hallucinogenic auditory fx, Absynth is THE software of 21st century sound designers. It’s not hard to see why… it’s massive…really massive…and, unlike Absinthe, Absynth isn’t going to make you go blind…though turning it up loud enuff might just make you go def…

Absynth 3.0 reviewed in the technofile by Jewish rapper, jewish comedian and journalist, MC Rebbe the Rapping Rabbi.

Essentially it’s a complex synthesizer (that can operate in both stand alone mode and as a plug in) which offers pretty much everything but kitchen sync. Most of the action takes place in the patch window, where there are three ‘oscils’, four filters, three mods, one waveshaper and one effect module, all of which are modular so can be turned on and off independently of each other. Sony ACID Pro V5.0

The classic example is Roland, without whose 303 and 909 there would have been no Acid House…or trance…

Of course that was back in the day, since when, dance music has moved on and massive as it is right now, there’s something even more massive and that’s bootlegs aka mash ups aka bastard pop. In fact, Mash ups are such big news lately, that if you haven’t heard about them, chances are you’ve spent the last couple of years with your head buried in the sand…on Mars.
